De Renaissance Patriots President, Prince Adeniji-Adele, dies at 66

 

CITIZENS COMPASS—De Renaissance Patriots has announced the death of its president, Prince Hakeem Adelani Adeniji-Adele who passed on in the early hours of Friday August 2, 2024 .

He was aged 66.

Announcing the death on Friday, Secretary General of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, Mr. Yomi Tokosi, said:

“With heavy hearts, I announce the tragic loss of our President, Prince Adelani Gbogboade Adeniji-Adele.

“We lost him early this morning to the cold hands of death.

“His dedication, resourcefulness and leadership will be sorely missed.”

Details will be made available later by the royal family, it was said.

It has been said that Prince Adeniji-Adele will be remembered for his freedom fight for Lagos State natives, who have been deprived from enjoying their rights as owners of the land and indigenes of Lagos State since the return of democracy in 1999.

Leaders of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation in the persons of Professor Adele Jinadu, Chairman of the Group’s Board of Trustees, Maj-Gen Tajudeen Olanrewaju, Alternate BOT Chairman, and Retired Justice Solomon Olusola Humponu-Wusu, Honoured Trustee, have reacted to the shocking death of the late Renaissance Patriots President.

While mourning the late Prince, an eminent Nigerian and former Minister of Communications, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd), said by Adelani’s departure, Lagos State has been befallen with a great loss.

The former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army said, “Lagos State has lost a prominent son of the state, Prince Adelani Adeniji-Adele, a Prince of the Royal House of Lagos.

“Prince Adelani was a cerebral historian, a thoroughbred Lagosian, and a strong freedom fighter in the struggle to take back Lagos State to the ÌBILE indigenes of the state.

“His death will leave a big vacuum in the quest of making the indigenes participate in the governance of the state. He was in the forefront with the touch leading the way as the president of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation.

“In his role as our President, he was responsible, resolute, resolved and served with his energy, integrity and commitment to the goal of our cultural organisation. We pray for the repose of his soul. Rest in peace, our Prince and leader,” General Olanrewaju, Alternate Chairman of Board of Trustees of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, said.
