Dangote truck kills JustRite driver, injures two others
CITIZENS COMPASS – Three days after the driver of a truck belongs to the Dangote Group killed a commercial motorcyclist in the Apapa area of Lagos, another truck from the company has crushed one person to death and injured two others at Cane Village, Maryland area of the State.
The unfortunate accident occurred on Friday when a MACK concrete mixer truck collided with another truck belonging to JustRite, a popular retail outlet.whose driver was loading goods.
The truck also veered off the road and crashed into a nearby building, injuring two additional victims.
Recall that on Tuesday, a truck belonging to Dangote Group killed a commercial motorcyclist and injured the passenger in the Apapa area of Lagos.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has since attributed the accident to reckless driving by the Dangote driver.
The Friday accident was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu
He said that after the initial collision, the Dangote truck veered off and crashed into a nearby building, injuring two additional victims.
“The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, in response to distress calls via 767/112 Toll-Free lines at 1208hrs, activated the LRT from Command and Control Centre, Alausa,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.
Investigation conducted by the response team revealed that the Dangote truck suffered mechanical failure (brakes) lost control and crashed into a JustRite truck, whose driver was loading items before it further rammed into the building beside the road and crashed into two people in the process.”
The injured victims were transported to Gbagada General Hospital for immediate medical attention, while the body of the deceased driver was handed over to the family.
