CITIZENS COMPASS–Few hours after they wedded in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja, a yet-to-be-identified couple has reportedly agreed to file for divorce.
The step shocked their friends and relations who stood in awe.
Habibu Abubakar Wushishi, Director of Media and Strategy at the Niger State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, shared the story on Facebook on Sunday.
According to Wushishi who was a witness to the marriage in Gwagwalada, Abuja, the Nigerian couple exchanged vows on Saturday, December 28, only to divorce the following morning. In his post, he lamented the wasted effort of attending the ceremony in Gwagwalada, adding that the separation stemmed from mutual deception.
“A couple who got married yesterday have been divorced this morning. Reason: They both have been lying to each other; they made me waste my fuel to Gwagwalada for nothing,” Wushishi wrote.
While details of the couple’s alleged deceptions remain unclear, the story has become a topic of heated debate, with netizens questioning the basis of modern relationships and the pressures surrounding marriage
