CITIZENS COMPASS – THE chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area, HON. Wasiu Adesina, on FRIDAY, promised to partner with Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) to host a befitting trade Fair.
Adesina made the promise while declaring open the maiden edition of the 2023 Ikorodu Farm Fair at the council secretariat in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Citizenscompass reports that the farm fair is entitled “Food Today for Healthy Tomorrow’ Better Production, Better Nutrition”
According to him, the objective of the farm fair was to promote rural agriculture and enhance quality service delivery in farming for national economic growth
“The food fair is an indication that the local government intends to improve the economic development of Ikorodu area.
“Market itself is an integral part of econmic development, that is why we look inward to bring in food fair programme, ” he said.
According to him, the reason behind the fair was to improve the economic status of Ikorodu which is the reason we brought the farm fair.
“The Local government will partner with chamber of commerce and industry to host a beffiting trade fair that would encompass so many activities, ” he said.
Earlier, Mr Bolaji Balogun, General Manager, Lagos State Agric Inputs Supply Authority commended the council boss for bringing up such idea.
He said this would encourage Agric entrepreneurship, provide a platform for interaction and showcasing their farm produce.
Balogun, represented by Mr Onabanjo Olakunle, Farm Service Officer urged the local government to create more awareness of the programme to encourage more farmers and increase patronage.
Speaking, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, Chairman Ikorodu Development Association (IKODAS) also commended the council boss and appealled to people to be part of it and embrace agriculture.
He also commended the state government for prioritising and initiating different interventions to improve the agric sector.
He appealed for more adding that it would reduce unemployment in the area.
Mr AbdulHakeem Adesanya, Ram seller advised the youths to shun crime and engage in agriculture as a career to earn a living.
Mrs Yetunde Ogundare, one of the commodity sellers said it was a welcome idea.
