CITIZENS COMPASS–Controversy has trailed the purported reports of resignation of the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda.
The controversy was rife on Wednesday when a section of the media reported the resignation which has sparked debate among some social media influencers.
The reports were backed by a purported resignation letter by the speaker but the veracity of the letter could not be ascertained.
The controversy came barely 38 days after the first female speaker came onboard.
Sources claimed that on Monday, the speaker had prepared her resignation letter but some of her colleagues advised her against it which was replaced with a vote of confidence.
Recall that Obasa was impeached on Monday, January 13, 2025 while he was outside the country.
Citizens Compass reported that Obasa’s impeachment had caused division among members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) in the State.
Obasa had dragged the Lagos State House of Assembly and speaker, Mojisola Meranda to court to challenge his impeachment.
On Monday, the Assembly brewed fresh crisis as men of the Department of State Services (DSS) and Lagos State Police Command were seen at the complex to seal the offices of the speaker, deputy and clerk.
However, DSS said it was invited to beef security in order to avert breakdown of law and order.
