Confusion as terrorists storm Kaduna airport
THERE was confusion in Kaduna State Airport on Saturday following the invasion of terrorists to the area.
The invasion was said to have prevented the takeoff of an aircraft belonging to AZMAN Airline to Lagos.
The terrorists reportedly killed a staff of NAMA, who was shot on the head around the runway area of the airport.
The terrorists’ invasion was said to have stopped the takeoff of the AZMAN aircraft at about 12.30 pm.
It was gathered that the authorities of NAMA have contacted the military who have promptly strengthened the security around the airport.
“NAMA staff and the Azman airline are in fear owing to the death of the NAMA staff, ” the source said.
A source said that there is a reinforcement of the military at the airport over 13 trucks of the soldiers are at the airport.
Meanwhile, an explosion suspected to be from an Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), occurred at the Kabala West area in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State Killing scores of residents and injuring hundreds.
The incident has reportedly claimed many lives.
The State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the incident in a statement but denied casualties.
“Yes, there was an explosion suspected to be from an IED. But so far, there is no casualty recorded in the incident contrary to reports making the rounds.
“The anti-bomb squad has been deployed to the scene to analyse the particles we got from the place.’’
But one James Inusa, confirmed that there were many casualties adding that the figure was too much. He accused the police of being economical with the truth.
“I saw dead bodies; I saw people with bleeding heads and arms. I saw those writhing on the ground in pains”, he stated.
Another resident, identified as Jacob was quoted to have said, “I can confirm there were some casualties in the bomb explosion this morning though we cannot ascertain the number of the dead as at now.
“Some people were also injured in the explosion. I know of a young man who has a shop around that Kabala West area who was injured and was rushed to a hospital.
“We are still taking stock and I will give you feedback when we are sure of the casualty figure,” Jacob.
