Chief of Army Staff lauds NACOLM, charges graduating students on operational development
CITIZENS COMPASS – THE Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has commended Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) for demonstrating resilience through the successful conduct of the LSC and the Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (SLSOC) concurrently at its permanent site in Moloney and Ojo, respectively.
The COAS made the remarks at the graduation ceremony of Logistics Staff Course (LSC) 20/2023 held today 22 June 2023 at NACOLM permanent site Ojo Cantonment Lagos state,
The COAS who WAS represented by the General Officer Commanding 81 Division (GOC 81 Div), Major General Obinna Ajunwa stated that the occasion is coming at a time the College is repositioning itself to consolidate and deal with the expanded responsibilities of producing efficient logisticians as well as middle cadre leaders in the Nigerian Army. He further stated that he has confidence that with the vast resources committed to improving facilities at the permanent site and the Moloney Campus, the quality of the students graduating has been greatly enhanced.
He reiterated that these efforts are cardinal to the overall capacity of the Nigerian Army to improve on the general conduct of combat operations across all theatres of operations.
Maj Gen Ajunwa stressed that the operational reality informed Army Headquarters’ drive to focus on professionalism, readiness, sound administration and cooperation, with a view to maintaining a highly professional army, well trained, combat ready and effectively positioned to perform its constitutional roles.
He finally used the medium to congratulate the Commandant and the entire staff for the successful conduct of the maiden edition of the Training on Operational Level Logistics for Personnel of the ECOWAS Standby Force and the inclusion of the Practical Logistics Experience Scheme which is in line with Army Headquarters’ directive of including practical training in the curriculum of Nigerian Army training institutions.
In his welcome remarks, the Commandant (Comdt) NACOLM Major General Adekunle Adeyinka stated that the graduating students assembled on 13 January 2023 to undergo the training on Logistics Staff Course for 24 weeks. He added that 35 of the students were drawn from the Nigerian Army. However, one was withdrawn on administrative grounds.
Logistic Staff Course is designed to train middle cadre officers in the planning and execution of logistics operations in support of formations, Corps, tri-service and multinational operations, using modern management systems.
