CITIZENS COMPASS —One person has reportedly fell into the lagoon while some others were injured in multiple accidents which occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. .
The accident occurred at aboit 11.30p. m. inward Lagos Island.
The number of the vehicles involved could not be ascertained but Citizens Compass learnt that a bus and some cars were involved in the accident.
According to eyewitnesses‘ accounts, the impact of the accident led to an occupant in one of the affected vehicles falling into the lagoon before help could come.
An eye witness simply identified as Michael who narrated the incident to Citizens Compass in a telephone conversation at about 12.19p.m said emergency responders have arrived at the scene with an ambulance.
He said, “One of the vehicles was on top speed when it hit another vehicle and other vehicles repeated same which led to the multiple accident.
At press time, local divers were on water in search of the victim who fell into the Lagoon.
The cause of the incident was attributed to reckless driving.
Calls to the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu were not responded to.
