Bamise: Court remands BRT driver
YABA MAGISTRATE Court, Lagos State, on Friday, arraigned Andrew Nice, the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of 22-year-old Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), passenger, Ayanwole Oluwabamise (Bamise), just as the suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
The court further remanded him in custody for 30 days.
The court order follows an application by the Nigeria Police.
Police counsel, Yetunde Cardoso, filed the application based on a four-count charge of alleged murder, sexual assault, misconduct and interference with a corpse.
Recall that Oluwabamise was declared missing while returning to Ota from Ajah on February 26 when she boarded a BRT bus with number 240257 going to Oshodi at about 7 pm at Chevron Bus-Stop.
The fashion designer was later recovered dead on Ebute-Ero/Carter Bridge.
On Monday, the Department of State Services arrested Andrew Nice, the driver of the BRT that the victim boarded.
Viral videos showed that the driver, when apprehended by the secret police, confessed to having ‘been indecent’ with the deceased only to later came up with a different version of the story.
So far, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
