At last! NLC President, Joe Ajaero regains freedom
CITIZENS COMPASS–The President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, has regained his freedom on Monday.
Recall that he was arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) and handed over to the National Investigatiom Agency (NIA).
A top leader in NLC said that “the Comrade President has just been released. He was released at about 11.10pm.”
His arrest came 11 days after he honoured an invitation by the Police on August 29, and was released the same day.
Ajaero was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, on his way to London to attend the Trade Union Congress, TUC of the United Kingdom conference, which began on Monday.
Earlier, the leadership of NLC after a meeting behind the closed door had sent a strong warning to the Federal Government to release the NLC President before midnight.
The leadership also put its members on Red alert should the Federal Government fail to release its leader. At press time reasons for his arrest was not disclosed.
