Assembly renames street after council chairman, Sesan Daini
…urges incoming leaders to emulate him
CITIZENS COMPASS – The Legislative Arm of the Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, yesterday, immortalised its council chairman, Olusesan Mayokun Daini popularly known as Builder Daini for his exemplary achievements recorded by his administration.
The Assembly led by Nurudeen Alimi, renamed the popular Market Street in the area after the Council Chairman.
This was ratified at the floor of the House.
According to Alimi, the step was taken to leave Daini’s legacy being the backbone behind the rebranding of the LCDA.
Alimi commended Daini’s dedication, hard work, and passion, emphasising that his efforts were well recognised
by both the legislative and traditional councils in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
He encouraged future leaders of the LCDA to emulate Daini’s exemplary qualities.
One of the legislatures, Hakeem Sholawon,said the need to rename the street had been ratified at the floor of the House.
He applauded Daini’s outstanding contributions to the LCDA sayin, “I’m very familiar with that area as it falls within my ward, I know how it was before and I know how it is now, all thanks to our Chairman,” he said.
The Deputy Leader of the House, Princess Adetutu Banjoko, recounted what occurred at the last Ojude Oba in the town where High Chief Tajudeen Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom, proposed renaming the Street after the council chairman.
“The Odofin rose and sought to rename Market Street after Builder Olusesan Daini due to his tremendous works and residents were happy with this.
“Although it was also our intention, we still need to go through due process.
“As we deliberate on it, permit me to seek the house’s approval to rename the street after Builder Olusesan Daini.” She said.
The Majority Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Mathew Kolawole Arowolo, moved the Motion for the renaming of the Street as he enumerated the achievements of Daini saying “Daini’s achievements, cannot be overlooked”.
Since he was sworn-in as the council chairman in 2017, the LCDA has witnessed development be it economic, infrastructural, educational, healthcare, political reform, cultural preservation and security to mention but a few.
Daini’s administration set up a Joint Taskforce (JTF) to combat insecurity within the LCDA.
Recently, he commissioned an ultra modern legislative building in the Council.
Also, he has not been found wanting in the area of human empowerment.
