CITIZENS COMPASS – THE remains of 20 Military officers who died in an and air crash in Niger State were on Friday, August 25, 2023, laid to rest.
36 military officers died between August 13 to 14, 2023 but 20 were buried on Friday, at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.
The remaining 16 had already been buried at various locations across the country.
Recall that three officers and 22 soldiers were killed in an ambush by terrorists around Zungeru general area in Niger State.
Again, a NAF MI-171 Helicopter crashed on August 14 2023 at about 1pm near Chukuba village of Shiroro LGA I Niger State while on casualty evaluation mission.
Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, confirmed the casualties while giving an update on the ambush of troops in Niger State and an evacuation helicopter that crashed on August 14, 2023.
The aircraft evacuating the victims crashed with 14 soldiers previously killed in action and seven soldiers wounded in action, bringing the casualty figure to 36 killed in action.

Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa, other service chiefs, rank and file of the Nigerian Armed Forces, as well as families of the deceased, were in attendance.
