APC takes decision on Wike
CITIZENS COMPASS – FORMER Governor Nyesom Wike alongside some of his allies in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to have ministerial appointments in the All Progressives Congress (APC) but will not renounce membership of the PDP.
The decision by Wike and his allies to remain in the PDP while serving in the APC government according to an associate of the former Rivers State governor is to ensure that the landlord does not vacate his property for tenants.
Besides Wike, another prominent PDP official known to be aligned to the G5 is also to be given a ministerial position following the role he also played in stifling the PDP in his home state.
The group will however, not defect to the PDP and remain as a bad tooth in the mouth for the opposition party, one source revealed.
“This is not a new thing and I can go down memory lane to open to you that opposition parties have in the past helped to form a government without leaving their parties, so this will not be the first time.”
Mahmud Waziri was chairman of the APP when he took position in the Obasanjo government and so was Chief Ume Ezeoke.
“In fact, the late Chief Bola Ige was the leader of a section of the AD when he was given a strategic position in the Obasanjo government,” the PDP chief said.
“So, Nigerians must begin to look at it that if Wike is invited by the good gestures of President Bola Tinubu that he is coming to add value but that does not mean that he should abandon his party. Indeed, why should a landlord abandon his house for a tenant.
Wike is going to offer national service and I tell you in our situation his going to serve in the APC government will not mean that he should renounce his membership of the PDP,” the source disclosed.
It was learnt that the decision by Wike to serve in Tinubu’s cabinet while maintaining his membership of the PDP will unsettle the Atiku Abubakar tendency meaning that the present crisis in the party will endure. Wike has already influenced the appointment of his ally in the person of Rep Kingsley Chinda as the minority leader in the House of Representatives and is presently engaged to get another ally, Senator Agom Jarigbe to emerge as Senate Minority Leader.
