Tragedy struck on Saturday, after a yet to be identified supporter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), reportedly slumped and was presumed dead at the Saturday convention which took place at Eagle’s Square, Abuja. .
The supporter, according to reports, was heading for Eagle Square, venue of the convention, when he slumped and passed away.
One of those around him said the deceased first complained of dizziness and collapsed thereafter.
It was gathered that many of the party’s supporters rushed to assist him, but it ended in futility.
The deceased was later covered and taken away by some persons led by some security operatives.
It was learnt that the news that an APC supporter died on the way to the convention ground echoes insinuation about the poor organisation of the convention.
The organization of the convention has been flayed in some quarters.
The decision to fence off the Eagles Square from public transportation by more than a kilometer away in some cases led to delegates trekibg long distances to the convention ground.
The cause of the man’s death could not be ascertained at press time.
Meanwhile, the convention was married with clashes.
