Anambra Police bust notorious child trafficker
CITIZENS COMPASS–The Anambra State Police Command has bust a notorious child trafficker for trafficking teenagers between the age of 13 and 16 to neighbouring countries.
Spokesperson for the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest of the notorious child trafficker at a press briefing in Awka, the state capital.
The Command spokesperson said that the suspect was apprehended following reports of increasing cases of missing teenagers in the state.
He confirmed that the notorious child trafficker had trafficked many teenagers to neighbouring countries.
According to the spokesperson, some of the victims who were taken to Ghana, by the notorious child trafficker has been safely returned to Nigeria.
He added that search was ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has directed police personnel in the state to do everything possible towards tackling the trend.
“The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation with the police. This will help in rescuing other victims, and tracking down on other gang members.”
