Alapere pedestrian bridge collapses in Lagos 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS —Pedestrians around Alapere – Ketu area of Lagos State may face some challenges dashing across the road today as the pedestrian bridge at Alapere had reportedly collapsed. 

The collapse was said to have occurred in the late hours of Thursday. 

The bridge links Keru-Agboyi with Demurin Road on Ikorodu Road.

Eyewitnesses’ accounts said the bridge collapsed after being hit by a crane. 

However, Citizens Compass could not ascertain if the crane has been impounded by concerned authorities. 

An X user, @bigmanfarouk also posted thus. “ALERT!!!:* Pedestrian Bridge at Alapere Estate Bustop has collapsed after being hit by a Crane, motorists and other road users are stranded..

“It’s going to be a very long day on Friday.”

Speaking on an early morning radio programme, the General Manager,  Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Olalekan Bakare-Oki said the scene has been corfoned off as at 5.30a.m on Friday.
