CITIZENS COMPASS- LAGOS State Government has shut down a telecommunication mast erected on the uppermost floor of one of the buildings located near the scene of a three-storey building which collapsed in Mushin area on Friday.
The mast was disabled through the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA in collaboration with other stakeholders like Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Ambulance Services, the Nigeria Police Force and other agencies who assiduously worked at the scene till Saturday evening to forestall any secondary incident at the scene.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in his updates, said that the mast was shut down due to its imminent danger in the area.
He said the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Aerial ladder C02 has been deployed for the operation.
Osanyintolu said, “LASEMA is working in collaboration with other Stakeholders such as LABSCA , Physical Planning , LASAMBUS , Fire services , NPF .to decommission the imminent threat posed by the Communication Mast placed on the uppermost floor of the building.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Aerial ladder C02 has been deployed for same.”
He said operation was ongoing at press time.
Recall that four bodies were recovered when a three-storey building on 2/4, Oyenuga Street, Palm Avenue, off Oye Roundabout, Isolo, Mushin Local Government Area, suddenly collapsed at Mid-day, on Friday.
Emergency responders at the state and federal levels, raced to the scene for rescue missions and four bodies were recovered.
The state government through its Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Omotayo Bamgbise-Martins, has directed full investigation into the cause of the collapse.
