The residents made the commendation during a vox pop conducted by our correspondents in some parts of the state.
A businessman, Frank Omoregie said passing of the Bills is long overdue, “the bills will checkmate the high-handedness of some politicians in Nigeria,”
he said.
Another resident Mr Makanjuola Alejo said passing of the bills is a pointer to the fact that the state government is alive to its responsibilities. “if the state government can do this, it means that issues concerning electricity distribution in the state will be resolved one day,” said the businessman.
A hawker Hannah Akinola lauded the efforts of the state assembly saying, “I just thank them for passing the Bills,”
The Speaker Mudashiru Obasa had directed the Acting Clerk of the House, Mr. Olalekan Onafeko, to transmit a clean copy to the state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for assent.
Both bills were passed after unanimous votes by the lawmakers at the sitting where the bills were read the third time.
Immediately after their passage, Speaker Obasa commended his colleagues for their passion to see that the state continues to grow.
“I thank you all for this historic exercise,” Obasa said.
The House had held separate public hearings on the bills on Wednesday, with stakeholders expressing support.
