
Two dead, 15 rescued as three-storey building collapses in Lagos
…Storekeeper among victims
CITIZENS COMPASS– Two persons were recovered dead while 15 others were rescued from the rubbles of a three-storey building which collapsed in the Ojodu area of Lagos.
The building housing a restaurant located at 10, Oremeta Street, gave way at about 8a.m with many people trapped.
However, a recovery operation commenced in earnest leading to the rescue of 15 persons including the storekeeper of the building, unfortunately two bodies; man and woman were recovered.
In his updates, Ibrahim Farinloye, the Coordinator, Lagos State Territorial District, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the incident.
He said the Agency responded to distress calls at about 8.30a.m.
He said the cause of the collapse was yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
“Cause of the collapsed building is yet to be ascertained as at the time of writing this report. “
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident.
