
CITIZENS COMPASS– Many travellers on Good Friday, escaped death by whiskers when a truck collided with many vehicles on Kara Bridge, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The accident occurred at about 6:30 a.m.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the accident but said there was no fatality.
A traveller along the Expressway said three persons laid motionless at the scene but this could not be substantiated.
Videos from the scene were posted on social media as traffic built up around the axis.
One of the videos captured the wreckage of the accidented vehicles with many travelers appreciating God that no life was lost.
Some frustrated drivers were seen driving against traffic in a desperate attempt to escape the gridlock.
According to the Zone 26 FRSC in its update, the accident occurred inward OPIC involving a MACK truck and cars; Toyota Corola: DLA:6757, Sienna :BKL 543ZJ.
Route Commander Elizabeth Oluwadamilola Jayeola, Sector Public Education Officer, FRSC Lagos Sector Command, in her update said, “The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, reports a multiple-vehicle crash that occurred at Kara Bridge, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, at approximately 7:18am today.
“A total of seven vehicles were involved in the serious crash, including six Toyota vehicles and a green Mack truck. Preliminary investigations indicate that probable causes of the crash were speed violation.
“Five individuals sustained various degrees of injury: one adult male, two adult females, and two female children. No fatalities were recorded.
“The injured were promptly taken to winners hospitals at OPIC.
“FRSC personnel, in collaboration with sister agencies, are on-site managing traffic and overseeing the ongoing clearance of the obstruction to restore free flow of traffic along the Kara-Opic bridge.
“Motorists are advised to be calm to ensure the backlog is taken care of, as the container and other vehicles have been completely removed from the road.”
