
Ramadan: Lagos council chair urges Muslims to imbibe lessons of Ramadan
CITIZENS COMPASS– The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State, Mr Wasiu Adesina, has urged residents especially Muslim faithfuls to allow lessons of Ramadan to prevail in their lives.
He made the appeal during the ninth edition of Ramadan lecture organised by Iradat Islamic Society of Nigeria at the council secretariat in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The Chairman emphasised the need for people especially Muslims to follow the commandments and doctrines of Almighty Allah which includes; five times prayer, giving alms, pilgrimage to holy mecca.
“This is the ninth edition of the Ramadan lecture of my administration and it has revived people’s lives.
“I know some people who said that the lesson has modified their behaviours and discouraged them from going back to their sin.
“It is important for people, especially Muslims to always follow the doctrines of Islam, not only during Ramadan,” he said.
Adesina, promised to be consistent in organising the Ramadan lecture even after his tenure expired, according to him, it goes a long way in impacting, remodelling people’s lives.
He appreciated residents for their support assuring them of more infrastructural development and empowerment before his tenure finally winds up.
‘I want to assure the people of Ikorodu that the lecture will continue even after my administration expires because of peoples behavioural pattern,” he said.
The council chairman reaffirmed his commitment to improving the status of Primary Health Centres(PHC) especially in Agura, making it a 24-hour service to the community.
He commended the effort of the Federal Government(FG) to improve the health sector especially PHC across the 774 LG in Nigeria.
“I thanked President Bola Tinubu for his intervention in the health sector as well as improving PHC across the 774 LGA’s of the federation,” he said.
Earlier, Imam Shakirudeen Orilobamise, the head of Iradat Islamic Society of Nigeria, advised residents to seek forgiveness and God guidance especially during Ramadan, which is considered to be the holy month.
In his remarks, Mr Japhet Odesanya, an All Progressive Congress Party stalwart advised people to make use of the lesson learnt and advised party leaders to be careful in selecting the next council chairman.
