Ikorodu council chairman promises support for traditional rulers 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Wasiu Adesina, has promised support for the traditional rulers and custodians of cultural heritage in the area.

Adesina made the promise during the presentation of computers to a traditional ruler, Oba Ahmed Ogunderu(The Alagura of Agura 2) in his palace on Saturday in Ikorodu, Lagos.

He emphasised the important role of traditional institutions in development and upholding the preservation of rich African cultural heritage of the community.

“This computer system will allow more preservation and enhance information activities of the palace.

“I believe that our traditional institution plays a crucial role in local government administration, so there is a need to strengthen it.

“My administration will continue to maintain the existing collaboration between the traditional institution and the council,” he said.

In his remarks, the traditional ruler, Oba Ogunderu express gratitude to the council boss on the gesture adding that the computer system would go a long way in preserving day to day proceedings in the palace.

Alagura scored Adesina’s administration high in the area of peace and security, provision of potable water, human capital and infrastructural development, improved healthcare and welfare of the people among other laudable achievements.

Oba Ogunderu, gave his blessings, admonished the chairman to prioritise welfare of people and called for more synergy with the traditional institution to allow for more people-oriented projects in various communities.

“Our responsibility as traditional rulers is to help the government maintain peace inour domain.
