Afenifere youth leader regains freedom from kidnappers’ den
CITIZENS COMPASS– The abducted National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, Eniola Ojajuni, on Saturday, regained his freedom after 12 days in the kidnappers’ den.
A video monitored by Citizens Compass confirmed the release.
The video captured the youths leader seated at the back seat of a car alongside other occupants.
Ojajuni was beaming with joy as he announced his release from the kidnappers’ den.
The elated youth leader was dressed in a short with a Blue shirt.
He announced his release thus, “I’ve been freed. Yes.I’ve been released. I was released in Ibilo, Edo State.
“My name is Eniola Ojajuni, National Leader, Afenifere Youths Council.”
The video was accompanied with a caption, “the President of Afenifere National Youths Council President regain freedom after payment of N22.5 million.”
The National Secretary of the Youths Council, Biodun Aderohunmu, confirmed Ojajuni’s release in a WhatsApp message on Saturday.
“He has been released.”
Recall that Ojajuni was abducted on Monday, February 17, 2025, on his way to Abuja for a meeting.
The kidnappers had demanded N100m and two tricycles as ransom for his release.
On Wednesday, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the deployment of the Intelligence Response Team to secure the safe release of the Afenifere Youth Leader after a video went viral where Olajuni, who was at gunpoint, pleaded for Nigerians to come to his aid and raise funds for his release.
Few days back, a video of Ojajuni in captivity was shared on social media with a caption, “Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the National President of Afenifere Youths just sent me this video through his WhatsApp and asked me to forward it to several media platforms” ~ Barr. Ebiwanno Omolade Kingsley
“He has been held captive by kidnappers for several days. The abduction occurred in Kogi state while he was en route to Abuja for a critical meeting. According to the initial video released, he has sustained gunshot wounds. The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of 100 million naira, a sum that is not excessively burdensome for the Ondo state government to provide in order to secure the safe release of this young individual. The Governor of Ondo state should exhaust all avenues to ensure his rescue. This is undoubtedly a harrowing experience.”
Citizens Compass reported that Dr Olumide Aderibole, President, Yoruba Indigenes Foundation (YIF), called on Yoruba sons and daughters to rally round and secure the release of the youth leader whose abduction had raised concern among many Nigerians.
The youth leader hails from Ondo State.
