Obasa storms Lagos Assembly
CITIZENS COMPASS– The impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, has stormed the Assembly complex to reclaim his position.
Recall that on January 13, 2025, Obasa was impeached by the Assembly members and was replaced with his deputy, Mojisola Meranda.
The impeached speaker had challenged his impeachment in court.
Obasa’s presence at the Assembly sent gisters to many Assembly workers who ran helter skelter.
He was accompanied by some of his loyalists and policemen as he reportedly broke into the Speaker’s office.
Earlier, it was gathered that all security apparatus of Meranda had been withdrawn.
Two of the 39 lawmakers, Ayinde Akinsanya (Osmak) from Mushin Constituency I and Noheem Adams from Mushin Constituency II, were seen with Obasa at the Assembly complex while the incident unfolded.
Amidst the crisis, Obasa’s loyalists were said to have forced open the doors to the Speaker’s office followed by the announcement about his return to office.
It was learnt that Obasa’s security details have been returned.
Following the announcement, access roads to the complex were blocked by individuals believed to be Obasa’s supporters.
