Farmer found dead on Ogun farm

…As doctor confirms bullet wounds 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– A 50-year-old farm worker, Alfa Mustapha, was yesterday, found dead on his farm in Ageri Village, via Olodo, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Ogun State Police Command has since launched a full-scale investigation into the murder.

The case was said to be reported to the Police Outstation in Olodo at about 1830 hours, by the Chief Imam of Ageri Mosque, Moshood Mustapha, who stated that the deceased had gone to his farm in the morning but failed to return home. Concerned about his whereabouts, the Imam proceeded to the farm at about 1802 hours, where he found the deceased lying face up with his cutlass beside him.

Upon receiving the report, police officers from the outstation, led by the officer in charge, visited the scene and confirmed that the victim was lifeless. However, due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility at night, no immediate signs of violence were detected on the body. The scene was documented with photographs, and the corpse was evacuated to General Hospital, Odeda, for medical examination.

According to the spokesperson, Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed this on Sunday, in a statement, “A doctor’s assessment later revealed that the deceased had suffered bullet wounds from pellets, indicating he was shot at close range. The body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for further forensic examination.

“In response to this disturbing incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, has ordered an intensive investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrator(s). He has also assured the public that the Command will leave no stone unturned in bringing those responsible to justice.

“The Command urges anyone with useful information that could aid the investigation to come forward and assist the police. Such information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
