Commission urges FG to reduce Hajj fares

CITIZENS COMPASS – The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has appealed to the Federal Government to direct the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to waive the 2% charge imposed on pilgrims’ funds.

He said the move would significantly reduce Hajj fares and alleviate the financial burdens on Nigerian pilgrims, who are already struggling with the country’s economic challenges.

Speaking in Abuja on Saturday, Professor Usman reiterated his commitment to enhancing the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.

He noted that reducing the cost of Hajj has been one of his top priorities since assuming office, with the intention to make the pilgrimage more affordable for Muslims across the country.

Professor Usman noted that he has engaged key Hajj service providers, including airliners, service, accommodation and transportation companies to achieve this.
