Two dead, five rescued in Lagos building collapse 

 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS-–Two bodies were recovered while five persons were rescued on Tuesday, at the scene of a building collapse involving a two-storey building in Ajah area of Lagos State.

This occurred at about  1400hrs Mega Mall estate, mobile road, Inikpa villa, Ikota Ajah Lagos, as confirmed by Ibrahim Farinloye, the Coordinator, Lagos State Territorial District, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), who said the bodies were that of an adult and a teenager.

Farinloye confirmed this in his updates saying, “A 2 Storey building collapsed at 1400 pm at Mega Mall estate, Mobile Road, Inikpa Ajah, Lagos

“The bodies of an adult and a teenage boy have been recovered while 5 adults were rescued so far.

“A 2-Storey building collapsed at Mega Mall estate, mobile road, Inikpa villa, Ikota Ajah Lagos .

“The LTO received a distress after of a collapsed building at the above address situated at Ikota, Ajah axis of Lagos State. On arrival at the incident scene, it was discovered that a two (2) storey building under construction was found to have collapsed.

“The immediate cause of the incident is unknown and further investigation will be conducted.

“So far, the bodies of an adult male and a young boy was recovered and five (5) adult males with serious injuries have been rescued and taken to the hospital.

“Information indicates that more people are likely to still be under the rubbles.”

As at 9.40p.m, he said, “Responders are on search.”
