Students want Ogun Deputy Governor to apologise within 24 hours
CITIZENS COMPASS – The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) on Thursday, issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, to apologise to it’s members in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The students disclosed this at a press briefing in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
This became necessary following a violated clash yesterday, between the convoy of the Deputy Governor and the protesting students.
Citizens Compass reported that the students had hit the streets of Abeokuta protesting against the increase of school fees and the dissolution of the Students Union Government.
They were reportedly marching to the Governor’s Office when the clash occurred around the OPIC area, Oke Ilewo.
Thereafter, the Special Adviser to the state governor, on Communication and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, issued a statement that the Deputy Governor’s convoy was attacked by the students but this was immediately refuted by the leadership of the students.
Francis Adeyanju, NANS Chairman, Ogun Joint Campus Committee, at the press briefing asked the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to investigate the alleged shooting of protesting students by the security operatives.
He said the claim by the Special Adviser to the governor Adeyanju said the claim by the Special Adviser to the governor on Communication and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, that the students attacked the convoy was inaccurate and false.
He said Akinmade’s statement on the incident was a deliberate
