Ooni’s ex-queen sent to prison

CITIZEN COMPASS —Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the former queen of the Ooni of Ife, Oriyomi Hamzat, owner of Agidigbo FM, and Fasasi Abdulahi, Principal of Bashorun Islamic High School, Ibadan, Oyo State, have been sent to Agodi correctional facility in the State.

A Chief Magistrate in Ibadan, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, ordered the remand of the trio following the death of many children at a funfair.

They will remain in the facility pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the Oyo State Ministry of Justice.

The suspects were arraigned on Tuesday before the Chief Magistrate Court 1, Iyaganku, Ibadan, on a four-count charge, including conspiracy, acceleration of death, negligent acts causing harm, and failure to provide adequate security and medical facilities.

The court premises were filled with tension as a crowd of supporters gathered to show solidarity with Oriyomi Hamzat. However, the heavy presence of security operatives ensured calm throughout the proceedings.

Tensions heightened as police vehicles carrying the suspects began to leave the premises, with brief commotion among supporters before order was restored.
