– Substance abuse:* Children with CD are at a higher risk of developing substance abuse disorders.

– Criminal behavior:

CD can lead to an increased risk of criminal behavior, including violence and property damage.

Prevention of Conduct Disorder

1. Early Childhood Intervention*: Providing support and guidance to parents and caregivers to promote healthy child development.

2. Parent Management Training:* Teaching parents skills to manage their child’s behavior, including positive reinforcement and discipline.

3. Social Skills Training: Helping children develop social skills, such as empathy, communication, and problem-solving.

Management of Conduct Disorder

1. Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care: Providing intensive, community-based treatment for children with CD.

2. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy*: Helping children identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors.

3. Medication: Using medication to manage symptoms of CD, such as aggression and impulsivity.

4. Family therapy: Working with the family to improve communication, problem-solving, and relationships.

5. Community-based programs: Providing community-based programs that focus on social skills training, academic support, and recreational activities.

Conduct disorder is a serious mental health condition that affects children and adolescents in Nigeria and globally. Understanding the characteristics, prevalence, prevention, and management of CD is crucial in addressing this issue. By working together, we can provide support and guidance to children and families affected by CD and promote healthy child development.
