Students die, others injured as Dangote truck collides with bus 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS – Two students of Borno State University (BOSU), were reportedly dead when a Dangote truck allegedly hit their bus in the State.

One of them was in his final year and the other was in his second year before they were both cut in their prime.

Many other students were reportedly injured and rushed to Umaru Shehu Hospital and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri, for medical attention.

The accident occurred along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway on Wednesday.

The crash occurred in the Jimtilo area when the Dangote truck reportedly lost control and struck a bus with BOSU students on board.

Spokesperson for the University, Abba A. Massa, confirmed the incident, stating that it happened on Wednesday as students were heading home after their examinations.

BOSU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babagana Gutti, alongside Borno State’s Head of Service, Barrister Malam Fannami, and other university officials, have visited the injured students in the hospitals.

A group of BOSU students also visited the hospitals to sumpathise with the victims and donate blood to aid in their recovery.

The entire university community is grieving the loss of the two students, whose funeral will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
