Man found dead in Ogun apartment
CITIZENS COMPASS– A resident of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Fatai Hamzat, has been found dead in his apartment.
Until his death, he lived on Oremeji Street, Ijeun Tuntun area.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident on Saturday.
According to the spokesperson for the Command, Omolola Odutola, said the body was discovered at about 7a.m on Friday.
Hamzat’s neighbour who pleaded anonymity said, “I had just returned from church when I noticed Azeez’s motorcycle parked in the compound. I went to check on him, but his door was locked from the inside,”
After repeated knocking with no response from Hamzat, our correspondent learned that neighbors, including one Ogunsola, forced open a window.
Inside the apartment, they allegedly found Hamzat’s body hanging from a rope tied to the ceiling fan.
The spokesperson said the body was taken to a nearby l morgue for an autopsy.
“The deceased was found hanging in his apartment after several attempts to reach him failed. An investigation into the incident is ongoing,” Odutola said on Saturday.
On October 18, 2024, A man named Dada Adesonye died in a similar circumstance after hanging himself on a tree in the Afami area of Imasayi, Yewa North Local Government Area.
The Police said the victim’s body was found by a worker in the area in the early hours of October 18, 2024.
Similarly, on August 29, 2024, 32-year-old Olúwaṣeun Shorinola was found dead by his wife in their apartment in the Kémta area of Abeokuta.
His body was reportedly hanging from a wall.
