200 passengers onboard as boat capsizes in River Niger
CITIZENS COMPASS – Over 200 passengers were reportedly onboard on Friday, when a boat capsised at Dambo-Ebuchi sections of River Niger.
The passengers comprises gmarket women and farm laborers when the incident occurred.
Eyewitnesses said the ill-fated boat which belonged to one Musa Dangana capsized, throwing all passengers on board into the water.
Although there is no official statement on the incident, a report by Channels Television, said local divers have so far recovered eight bodies while search and rescue operations continue to locate the remaining passengers.
