CITIZENS COMPASS –His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo kingdom, on Saturday, conducted the groundbreaking ceremony of the much awaited Igbogbo Civic Center in readiness for the 36th Igbogbo Day celebration in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State.
The LCDA is under the leadership of Olusesan Mayokun Daini popularly known as Builder Sesan Daini.
The ground breaking ceremony was held at the Permanent Site, Offin/Oreta Road in Igbogbo.
It is situated on three acres of land along the Offin/Oreta Road to aid developmental projects in the Kingdom.
At the occasion, the Igbogbo Day Planning Committee under the leadership of Mr. Nosiru Titilope Andu-Balogun, Mr. Idris Adesina, Secretary, Igbogbo Day Planning Committee and Me Adeyemi Oshodi, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, had rolled out programmes to commemorate the 36th edition of Igbogbo Day Celebrations at a media parley shortly after the groundbreaking ceremony.
Addressing journalists at the event, Andu-Balogun, said the 36th edition will be held within a period of ten days promising that each day is loaded with excitement.
He said the Committee was working towards development of Igbogbo Kingdom to make her compete favourably with other communities the world oer.
The Committee Chairman said, “We’ve kick started this year’s celebration with prayers (Iwure and Jumat Service) on 21st November 2024, adding that Luncheon with His Royal Majesty (Oba) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali (Adeboruwa of Igbogbo kingdom) would take place on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
“This year’s occasion would be Chaired by Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat while the Chairperson for the day is Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire OFR, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs).” He said.
Also speaking, the Planning Committee Secretary, Mr Idris Adesina said the grand finale of the 2024 Igbogbo Day was slated for November 30, 2024, at Zumratul Islamiyyah Grammar School, Igbogbo, at 10a.m.
He said popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Sule Alao Malaika, will supply music.
