Many injured in Lagos multiple accident 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS – Many people were injured on Tuesday, in a multiple accident at Ojota inward Ketu area of Lagos State.

The accident involved an articulated truck with licence plate, BDJ 812 YF, a commercial bus with licence plate, LSD-483X6 and an unidentified vehicle.

This occurred at about 3.58p.m.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr..Oluwadamilola Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the accident in a statement.

“Following distress calls received by the Lagos State Emergency Management, LASEMA, at 1558hrs via the 767/112 Toll-Free Lines, the Agency activated its response team from the Command and Control Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

“Upon arrival by 1609hrs at the incident scene, it was discovered that an articulated truck, registration number BDJ 812 YF, a commercial bus, registration number LSD-483X6 and an unidentified vehicle were involved in a road accident.

“Investigations conducted by the LRT revealed that while the articulated truck was on motion, the truck driver lost control of its wheel and the truck unavoidably crashed across its lane onto the BRT corridor.

“Upon this impact, the commercial bus, while attempting to avoid collision with the truck, rammed into the unidentified vehicle from behind.

“The unidentified vehicle had in turn left the scene of the accident before the arrival of the Agency’s Response Team.”

He said there was no loss of life.

“No loss of life due to the incident.

“Some occupants of the commercial bus that sustained various degrees of injuries had been reportedly taken to the hospital, before arrival of the Agency’s Response Team.

“ The Agency’s Response Team alongside it’s stakeholders activated Safety Measures

“Traffic Control Measures were activated.

Necessary heavy-duty equipment had been activated.”

In attendance were LASEMA Response Team, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), FRSC and LASTMA

“The fallen truck has been recovered and handed over to LASTMA at the scene of the incident.

“Recovery operation concluded.”
