National grid collapses again
CITIZENS COMPASS– Nigeria’s national power grid on Thursday collapsed again.
This time around, the collapse was a major one throwing most cities in darkness.
At press time, millions of households and businesses were without power supply.
The management of one of the electricity distribution companies, Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC), announced the collapse on its social handles.
“Dear esteemed customer,
“Please, be informed that we experienced a system collapse today, 07 November, 2024, at 1.29Hrs affecting supply within our network
“Restoration of supply is ongoing in collaboration with our critical stakeholders.
“Kindly bear with us.”
The collapse was the second one in three days,
The blackout has once again raised serious questions about the state of Nigeria’s power infrastructure and the frequency of grid failures, which continue to disrupt daily life and economic activities.
Reports indicate that the latest collapse occurred earlier today, plunging several regions into darkness and sparking concerns over the resilience of Nigeria’s power supply.
This incident marks yet another setback in the country’s ongoing struggle to deliver consistent power to its citizens, with this being one of multiple blackouts recorded so far this year.
