High tension kills three in Lagos market
CITIZENS COMPASS – No fewer than three people were reportedly killed on Wednesday, when a high tension cable dropped on them at Oyingbo Market in Lagos State.
The incident occurred at about 11a.m at Bolson,Denton, Street by Market Street area in f Oyingbo.
One of the victims, a woman was said to have taken her children to school and was in a shop to assist her mother when the cable dropped on the shop and she was electrocuted on the spot.
Another victim, a male was said to be a passerby when the cable was engulfed by fire and caught up with him.
Same applies to the third victim.
Fortunately, some courageous sympathisers rise to the occasion and prevented the occurrence from degenerating.
A market leader who alerted Citizens Compass said the victims were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.
It was learnt that the incident led to the closure of the market until further notice.
The market leader who pleaded anonymity said the incident was unfortunate.
“The tragic incident led to the closure of our market and we have all been sent home.”
At press time, the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Mrs Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, did not respond to calls by Citizens Compass l.
