Lagos assures residents of quality, affordable homes 

 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS–The Lagos State Government on Monday, assured its residents of quality and affordable homes across the State.

The state government said it will ensure all ongoing housing projects are built to the best standard in terms of specification and will be completed during this tenure.

This was stated by Mr Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, the Lagos State Commissioner for Housing when he led the technical team of the Ministry on a tour of the ongoing LagosHOMS housing project at Ajara in  Badary on Friday.

The Honourable Commissioner restated the commitment of the State Government to  increase the quantum of quality and decent homes available to the citizens of Lagos State particularly the low and medium income earners.

While  inspecting the 420 home units in 35 blocks of various categories of three-, two- and one-bedroom flats 

and interacting with contractors on site, the Commissioner expressed his satisfaction on the quality and speed exhibited towards the delivery of the project.

Moruf Akinderu-Fatai also informed the contractor to escalate any identified challenge for immediate resolution. He further stated that the delivery time should be met as agreed so that the Ministry can commission the project and hand it over to the allottees.

He expressed his satisfaction on the state of the project during the inspection and feel proud of the quality of work being done. 

Akinderu advised the contractors to continue to use quality building materials that provide homeowners with convenience and maintenance cost-saving advantages.

According to him, the LagosHOMS projects at Ajara, Badagry has been designed to take care of the home needs of Lagosians along Lagos West senatorial district of the State.

The Commissioner assured all expectant home seekers in the State that all hands are on deck to ensure that the vision of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to substantially increase the housing stock  for Lagosians is actualized.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, Engr. Abdulhafis Gbolahan Toriola during the visit advised contractors to sign off their building materials for the projects from the Ministry’s technical team before installation.

Engr. Toriola also reiterated the commitment of the State Government in ensuring that gaps in provision of high quality and affordable housing are filled on a progressive basis.
