AIG Zone 2, Adegoke sets up six-man panel to Investigate alleged human rights violations at Maroko Police Station
CITIZENS COMPASS–The Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 2 Command, Lagos, AIG Fayoade Adegoke, has established a six-member panel to investigate allegations of human rights abuses at the Maroko Police Station, National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) can report.
The move follows the circulation of a viral video in which a woman claimed she was unlawfully detained in the station’s cell along with several male and underage detainees.
The panel, chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Ajao Adewale, who heads the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department (ZCID), includes a diverse range of professionals to ensure a balanced and thorough probe. The members are ACP Ogunsakin Gbenga, head of the Zonal Intelligence Department; Mr. Emma Nnadozie, Group Crime Editor of Vanguard Newspaper; Prince Adeoye Adewunmi, a human rights activist; Ivy Kanu of TVC News; and Barrister Blessing Afe, a lawyer and social worker.
The panel will be formally inaugurated by AIG Adegoke at the M.D. Abubakar Conference Hall, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 4, 2024.
