CITIZENS COMPASS–A feast organised by a white garment church has reportedly turned sour leading to the death of five persons and many others hospitalised in the Olodo area of Oyo State.
The incident reportedly occurred last Sunday.
The church feast,.interpreted in Yoruba Language as ‘Ipese’ was said to have taken place during last Sunday.
Those hospitalised are currently at the infectious diseases center, Olodo in Egbeda Local Government Area.
A source which pleaded anonymity said it could not be established if the deaths were as a result of the feast.
He said himself and many others partook in the feast without and no sad incident was recorded.
The source added that the incident was coincidental.
It was gathered that various government agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Service (DSS), media houses, and the World Health Organisation(WHO), have visited the scene but their findings have not been made public.
A health worker who pleaded anonymity said 50 of the victims have been attended to and discharged.
“Some of the affected people were brought here for treatment. So far, 50 have been discharged, while others are still receiving care,” the worker stated.
Spokesperson, Oyo State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, said investigations were ongoing.
