CITIZENS COMPASS--The House of Representatives on Friday, summoned the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, and popular blogger, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
The House also extended the invitation to the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), Ibrahim Usman.
The invitation sought to clarify the N15million bribery allegation said to be offered to the EFCC officials by Bobrisky to dismiss charges of money laundering brought against him.
The Joint Committees of the House invited the above named persons.
In a letter dated September 27, 2024, the committee directed Olukoyode and the Correctional Service Chief to appear before them on Monday, September 30, along with all relevant officers implicated in the allegations.
Recall that Bobrisky was sentenced to six months inprisonment earlier this year for currency abuse.
However, he claimed that he was allowed to serve his time in a VIP facility and this further instigated the bribery saga.
The Correctional center said Bobrisky was isolated because he portrayed the characteristics of a female.
Citizens Compass reported that EFCC said it’s chairman had ordered investigations into the allegations. The EFCC has also invited both Okuneye and Otse to its Lagos Directorate to aid in the inquiry.
The allegations got messier when VeryDarkMan’s also indicate popular human rights activist, Femi Falana, of demanding the sum of N10million from Bobrisky to remove his name from the records of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
On Wednesday, human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, had issued 24 hours notice to VeryDarkMan, to “retract his offensive and derogatory publication” against him or face legal action.
In a letter from Falana’s legal counsel, Taiwo E. Olawanle, on Wednesday, the influencer was given 24 hours to retract his statements and issue a public apology.
The letter described VeryDarkMan’s statements as “a vicious, wicked, and reckless ploy” designed to tarnish Falana’s reputation among the public. He emphasised that “WITHOUT ANY FEAR OF CONTRADICTION,” Falana has never spoken to Bobrisky regarding any alleged pardon or any other matter.
The letter read, “We, therefore, demand immediate retraction of the offensive and derogatory publication as well as an apology prominently published in all the platforms to which you have disseminated it without any justification whatsoever.
“Be advised that if we do not receive your formal retraction and apology as demanded within 24 (twenty-four) hours of the receipt hereof, we shall proceed with our client’s instructions to seek appropriate legal remedies, including monetary damages, against you for your incendiary publication and dissemination of defamatory statements.
“We hope that the salient issue raised herein will urgently be addressed by you in your own interest,” he said.
The bribery scandal was occasioned by the allegation by VeryDarkman that Bobrisky failed to repay a debt of N4million to someone who ran to the blogger over the debt.
He advised Bobrisky to clear the debt or face embarrassment threatening to release some facts about the six-month jail term in April.
Having waited for Bobrisky without cogent response, VeryDarkman alleged that the crossdresser paid N10 million to a musician and Falana ‘s son, Folarin Falana also known as Falz to intercede on his behalf and plead for a pardon.
