Bobrisky: Government suspends senior prison officials 

…As crossdresser laments suicidal thoughts 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS–The Federal Government of Nigeria on Thursday, suspended some senior officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) over N15m bribery allegations against them by the controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has dragged Bobrisky to court and sent to jail for abusing Naira notes.

Few weeks after his release, a blogger, Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, in a viral video, alleged that Bobrisky owed someone the sum of N4m for an unfulfilled agreement and thereafter urged him to pay up failure of which amounts to him (VeryDarkMan) releasing a bombshell.

As Bobrisky was reluctant to pay the N4m, VeryDarkMan released the bombshell in a video which alleged Bobrisky to have bribed EFCC officials with N15m to drop money laundering charges against him during his abuse of Naira irdeal.

He was arrested for spraying the Naira notes in April after which a court sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment.

With the viral video, Bobrisky was said to have rushed to pay the N4m but this was too late as VeryDarkMan released more facts about the bribery allegations.

The blogger also alleged that Bobrisky paid some millions of naira to secure a choice place in prison.

Bobrisky has since denied the allegations while the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) had ordered investigations into the allegations by the blogger.

The federal government, through the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board suspended the officials of the correctional center following the viral video by the blogger.

This was made known in a statement by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary to the Board.

“Following the viral video trending on social media on alleged infractions by Officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service relating to Mr. Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has suspended forthwith the following Senior Officers of the Service:

Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), In-Charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State; and

Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), In-Charge of Maximum-Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State;

“Also, the Board has suspended ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, serving at the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Afikpo, Ebonyi State, for allegedly accompanying a convicted inmate out of the Custodial Centre to a location outside the facility,” the statement partly reads.

In a related incident, Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) at the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kuje, Abuja, has been suspended for allegedly accepting money on behalf of an inmate.

The Board announced that these suspensions will allow for further investigations into the allegations. It also assured the public that the findings of the investigation will be made known once concluded.

On Tuesday, EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, launched an investigation into the bribery allegations against some officers of the Commission.

On his Instagram Handle on Thursday, Bobrisky has since denied the bribery allegations dismissing as fake adding that he was battling with suicidal thoughts.
