Suspected kidnappers kill 15-year-old victim after collecting N.5m ransom
CITIZENS COMPASS–Three suspected kidnappers in Ogun State have abducted a 15-year-old boy and killed him after collecting N500,000 ransom from his family.
The suspected kidnappers engaged in the sad incident on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in the Imala area of the State.
They were Umar Muhammad, 24 years old, Audu Muhammad, 22 years old, and Umar Danda, 22 years old.
However, the duo have been apprehended by the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, codenamed So-Safe Corps who stormed their den at Olodo Karaoke along Anigbado-Idiemi road.
According to a press statement issued by the State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, through the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, the details of the apprehension of the suspected kidnappers went thus:
“On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at about 1900hrs, information reached the Imala Division of the Corps regarding a kidnapping incident. A 15-year-old, Yahu Muhammad, was kidnapped, and a ransom of N500,000.00 was collected, but the suspects refused to release him.
“The Special Squad of the Corps at Imala was deployed to rescue the victim unhurt. Upon arrival at the suspected kidnappers’ den at the Olodo Karaoke along Anigbado-Idiemi road, the team discovered that the suspects had killed the victim despite collecting the ransom.
“The suspects are: Umar Muhammad, 24 years old, Audu Muhammad, 22 years old, and Umar Danda, 22 years old.
Ganzallo further revealed that the victim was kidnapped and killed while rearing cattle in the Akara forest area. The cattle were left unattended to.
He commended the operatives of the Vigilante Group for their assistance in apprehending the third suspect, Umar Danda.
The victim’s corpse and the apprehended kidnap suspects have been transferred to the Imala Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
