CITIZENS COMPASS–A 57-year-old vigilante, Edokpa Patrick, has been arrested for being in possession of gun and 172 cartridges in Edo State.
The Edo State Police Command has apprehended him for interrogation.
It was gathered that he was arrested at Ugomonson community area of the State.
Confirming the arrest to newsmen on weekend, spokesperson for the command, Moses Yamu, said the police arrested the vigilante while acting on intelligence.
“The suspect was arrested in possession of one unlicensed single barrel gun with 172 live cartridges.
“During interrogation, the suspect claimed to be a member of vigilante but he is into sales of live cartridges.”
Yamu said the suspect confessed that his wife, Blessing Edokpa, who is currently at large, was the one selling the cartridges and that she usually gets supplies from Onitsha in Anambra State.
He said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed.
