Soldiers killed as Biafra agitators invade Aba
CITIZENS COMPASS – It was a bloody day in Aba, Abia State capital on Thursday, May 30, 2024, as some Military men have lost their lives when some Biafra agitators invaded the Town.
Fear gripped residents following the bloody day.
The incident was said to have coincided with Biafra Day, which was set aside by Biafra agitators to mourn their late heroes.
Footage for the day was sent to some social media platforms which were monitored by our Correspondent.
One of the footage posted by a Facebook user, De Finder, captured armed men shooting at and burning military patrol vans, while residents watched on from their windos, in terror.
From the video, a lone surviving Nigerian soldier was seen trying to hide from the rampaging Biafran gunmen after some of his colleagues had lost their lives.
The residents could be heard from the background confirming that the soldier was the only one that managed to escape.
Businesses, including markets, schools, government offices, motor parks, as well as police checkpoints that usually litter the roads in all parts of the state, were deserted.
The agitators chanting war songs, “Free Nnandi Kanu,” were clad in Red and Green attire baring Biafran flags were asking people to stay at home.
They were seen matching through the streets of Aba.
Similar footage in Onitsha, Anambra State captured similar demonstrations as the agitators were seen burning some vehicles as residents were warned to stay away from the streets.
Spokesperson, Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga said the command was fully aware of the activities of the Biafra agitators and urged the law-abiding citizens to disregard their propaganda.
