Man hacks brother to death over inheritance
CITIZENS COMPASS —Police in Niger State have arrested a 30-year-old man, Abubakar Sani, for hacking his older brother, Kabir Sani to death over the property of their father.
The incident occurred in Gawu-Babangida in Gurara Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that an argument had ensued between the duo over the property of their father with Abubakar hitting his older brother many times, leading to his death.
Efforts by neighbours and passersby to intervene proved abortive as Abubakar used the big stick in his hand to hit anybody who tried to intervene.
Looking from a distance, Abubakar succeeded in hitting his late brother on all parts of the body, especially on the head several times and later left in the pool of his blood.
As Abubakar was trying to escape from the scene, some of the villagers pounced on him, arrested and handed him over to the Police.
The almost lifeless body of late Kabir, aged 34 was immediately rushed to Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Gawu Babangida, where he was certified dead.
Spokesman, Niger State Police Command, Abiodun Wasiu, confirmed the incident in a statement.
He said: “We heard that an argument ensued between the two brothers which led to the junior brother killing his senior brother over their father’s property.”
“Late Kabir, 34 years old, was rushed to the FMC, Gawu Babangida, where he was confirmed dead.
“Preliminary investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution,” the statement added.
