Updates on father of late Access Bank CEO, Herbert Wigwe
CITIZENS COMPASS —Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, the father to the late Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Access Bank Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, did not slump during the funeral of his late son as widely speculated by a section of the media.
The bereaved father, who is in his 80s, was said to have slumped during the funeral service of his son, Herbert Wigwe; daughter-in-law, Chizoba, and grandson, Chizzy, on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Citizens Compass reported that the funeral service was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The trio died in a helicopter crash in the United States of America in February 2024.
A credible police source dismissed the report that the aged father slumped, saying that Herbert Wigwe’s father was “Hale and hearty”.
The source added: “Even the Senate President (Godswill Akpabio) met and prayed for him.
“The story of Pa Wigwe’s collapse is totally false. We should allow the family to mourn its dead and not add to the pain by writing false stories,” the source added.
The remains have been interred at a private cemetery within the Wigwe University premises in Isiokpo.
In a later deleted message, a social media influencer, Tony Ogbuagu, on his X Handle formerly known as Twitter had posted that Pastor Wigwe slumped.
He seized the opportunity to debunk social media reports about the purported death of the bereaved father.
He wrote: “Herbert Wigwe’s father is not dead please. He only slumped and has been taken to the hospital. Make una slow down with all these bad news.”
