CITIZENS COMPASS —Some warehouses on the Broad Street area of Balogun Market, Lagos Inland, were consumed by fire on Sunday when a 10-storey building housing the warehouses went up in flames.
The inferno was said to have started on the first floor of number 96-102 but raged and spread to the fourth floor before help could come.
It occurred in the afternoon.
The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the incident to newsmen in her Situation Report on Sunday.
She said the attention of the Fire Service was drawn to the incident at about 13:15hrs.
“A warehouse in a ten-story building is on fire. The fire originated on the first floor and has now reached the fourth floor.”
She said there was no casualty and the fire was attended to by the Ebute Elefun and Sari Iganmu Fire Stations.
The Director said the cause was yet to be established as of the time of filing this report.
She said the fire was completeky put out at about 4.38p.m as dampening of the area began.
