CITIZENS COMPASS —A truck driver has allegedly crushed a motor boy to death in Lagos State.
The motor boy was said to be resting underneath the truck when he was crushed to death.
The incident occurred on Sunday, December 31, 2023, by MTN inward Sunrise along Oshodi – Apapa Expressway area of the State.
On noticing the incident, the driver of the fully loaded containerised truck took to his heels but was apprehended by the operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and handed over to the police.
LASTMA spokesman, Adebayo Taofiq disclosed this to Citizens Compass in a statement saying the today apprehended a driver of a fully loaded containerised truck after crushing a motor boy to death by MTN inward Sunrise along Oshodi – Apapa Expressway.
He said, “A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the fully loaded containerised truck (T-1360LA) unknowingly crushed a motor boy who was sleeping under his truck while the driver was trying to move along with other loaded trucks going inward Tin Can Port Gate, Apapa.
“Immediately the unfortunate incident happened and the motor boy was confirmed dead after rushing to a nearby hospital, the truck driver took to his heels but was immediately apprehended by LASTMA officials led Traffic Officer Adams Lateef ‘Zebra’ (Zone 13) Apapa.
He was later handed over to Policemen from the Trinity Police Division area of Apapa for further investigation.
The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bakare Oki appealed to drivers to always ensure they always check round their trucks to ascertain nothing was found under before embarking on any movement.
While sympathizing with the family of the deceased, Mr. Bakare Oki however sent his condolences.
