CITIZENS COMPASS —Despite court order, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has presented the staff of office to the new Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola.
Presenting the staff of the office, Makinde noted that development of Iseyin, is his major concern, noting that the town has potential for growth and development.
Iseyin is a town with great potential. I am committed to working with the people of Iseyin to harness this potential for the benefit of all.”
It will be recalled that a legal practitioner, A.G. Adeniran, had prayed the governor to halt the presentation in the interest of justice, peace and good governance.
He argued that the state government should be conscious of the pendency of a suit no: HOI/04/2023 before the Oyo State High Court, sitting in Iseyin, over the contest for the stool of the ancient town.
On Thursday, December 14, 2023, the Governor wrote on his X account popularly known as Twitter, “was an honour to be at the official coronation ceremony and present the staff of office to the 30th Aseyin of Iseyinland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, Ajirotutu I, today.
